READ
By all means have a skim of Cameron this week, but the cardiology chapters tend to be pretty long and boring, and of not a great deal of relevance to the exam except for some MCQs. You need to be able to read ECGs and manage the conditions they represent, which is by far the biggest application of cardiology knowledge in the exam.
We have a few articles of interest relating to cardiology topics this week:
1. Cardioversion, written by Luke for EMA: lots of factoid type information about management of acute arrhythmias
2. Two articles discussing the predictive value of various chest pain features for acute coronary syndrome. Note one is linked and the file for the other is below it.
3. The ADAPT study, discussing the use of a two hour "rule out" troponin in low risk chest pain. This is definitely worth knowing about as it's starting to seep into clinical practice. In fact, it's now referenced in the national ACS guidelines.
