Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This is a topic that comes up with surprising regularity in both the multiple choice and written components of the exam. Having something sensible to say about the major topics is fairly straightforward, but also imperative to succeeding.

watch.

At EMCORE 2015 we had quite a large O&G component. It's an important part of emergency medicine, after all. Below are lectures from the conference (and one from our 2014 iteration) covering:
  • Trauma in Pregnancy
  • 1st Trimester Bleeding
  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Emergency Delivery
  • PE in the pregnant patient
The lectures are well worth a watch. Below, in the READ section, are a set of notes (in both scribd and file format) for you to look at. They are a good frame on which to build O&G knowledge, so if you're the sort of person who learns this way, it might be worth printing them out to annotate as you watch the lectures.

Below are the original Kamikaze Fellowship course notes revising important topics in O&G. Over the years we've built and added the important things you need to know into them. Read through them - they are a good framework upon which to build your knowledge.

As usual a pdf for IPAD users is located below the scribd document.
And in pdf format for IPAD users or those who want a print out to annotate with the lectures above, or their own study:

solve.

Below is a clinical reasoning exercise in obstetric medicine. It's fairly straightforward, so read the information and then answer these questions:

1) Give the 2 major disturbances present in this patient's pathology.

2) What is the most likely diagnosis?

3) Give 3 other investigations you wish to perform and the indication for them.
